Since family law attorneys work on an hourly basis, the less work we do, the
less we charge. Clients who help us accumulate and organize relevant and
requested information routinely save a significant amount of money on their
case. In addition, clients who take our advice and are patient about resolving
their matter also greatly reduce the overall cost of their case and usually
achieve a better result. The general rule is that the more reasonable you are
about what result you want to achieve, the less your attorney’s fees will be.
However, you could be extremely reasonable and still have a large attorney’s
fees bill if the other side of your case refuses to be reasonable.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the opposing party will be reasonable.
